I pretty much know what my next (long) blog post (or two) is going to be about, but I have some time left to let it simmer in my brain before it’s ready. So on a related but tangential note, here’s some music I’ve been listening to lately, and want to recommend to you. All We Are by OneRepublic. (Seriously, do yourself a favor and buy their album Dreaming Out Loud if you haven’t already – it’s probably the most consistently good album I’ve heard since Josh Groban’s Awake.)
I also just recently got The Story by Brandi Carlile, so will be diving into that soon.
I’ve been meaning—in one of our rare, yet satisfying phone conversations—to join your chorus of praise for Coldplay’s latest album, the joys of which I’ve recently discovered courtesy of ZunePass. It gives me great pleasure to hear the indie-loving hipsters grimace about Viva la Vida, since it (along with X&Y) patently dispels their claim that Coldplay would cease to be stylistically innovative the moment they realized popular appeal.
Given the significant overlap of our musical tastes, I think you might enjoy a new album from Jason Mraz titled We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. It’s closely related to the sounds and levity of John Mayer, but distinguished by its ska-like tendencies.
